This school is dedicated to the teaching and practice of Anusara Yoga®, a popular and life-affirming style of Hatha Yoga developed by John Friend, a highly respected teacher from the United States. The Sanskrit word Anusara means “to move with the flow of Grace” or to “flow with the currents of the heart”. The practice encourages every posture and each breath to express the creative flow of life, opening us to the full beauty and inherent goodness of life within us and around us. Yoga expressed from the inside out. A clear and concise set of alignment principles based on sound biomechanics applies to every posture in the Anusara Yoga method. Students are taught these in every class, and are invited to explore both the alignment and action in the postures through a heart-oriented theme. By aligning ourselves attitudinally as well as physically we are better able to discriminate between what is life-enhancing and what is not, and to experience the highest sense of freedom in any pose. At Georges River Yoga Centre we have a wonderfully inclusive community of Yoga practitioners. The venue is a lovely community hall in a quiet street. All Yoga equipment is supplied although you are welcome to bring your own. |
