Christine Du Fresne is a Certified Anusara YogaŽ teacher.
I
began practicing yoga in the mid-1980’s when I was raising a young
daughter and completing a post-graduate year in painting. As I began to
learn about the philosophy that gives meaning to the physical asanas
(postures) I understood how the practice could give shape and clarity
to my life. My teacher for the first 10 years was Pixie Lillas, a
senior Iyengar teacher in Sydney. I am grateful to her for helping to
instill in me a commitment to and love of the practice. I soon
undertook a teacher training programme with her. Some years later I
completed a 4-year apprenticeship with Craig Sharp, then a certified Anusara
YogaŽ teacher. When Craig first spoke of his intention to follow this
“yoga of the heart” I knew I had found my true path.
My
deepest gratitude goes to John Friend, the highly respected founding
teacher of Anusara Yoga who has also been my teacher on many memorable occasions, and to Craig for his guidance and rigorous
training in this wonderful, extraordinary system of Yoga asana and
philosophy. I have been teaching regularly for the past 11 years. I have
also found time to make a film and write a book, and to build a
sustainable straw bale house with my daughter. 2012
marks the beginning of another great journey - a workshop programme
combining the teaching and practice of art-making with yoga. Rupa Kalaa - Discovering the Beauty of Art through Yoga These events will be posted on the Special Events page of this website.
